Travelling with kids this summer? We've got some tips for you! 🌞
1. Explain the trip to the kids, and show them maps and pictures of places you're going to visit. Make sure they know what to expect and how to behave safely. Don't forget to mention car safety if you're travelling by car🚗. For Example:
❌ Don't take your seatbelts off
❌ Don't argue as it distracts the driver
2. If possible choose the time of the day when no one is tired. 😴
3. Allow yourself plenty of time and don't set your expectations too high. Some things will probably not go according to your plan and that's ok. 🤗
4. Let the kids take one or two of their favorite toys (especially if they fall asleep with them every night). 🧸
5. Don't forget to take PeapodMats! I recently travelled with a toddler, didn't pack our PeapodMat and it was a HUGE mistake! My little boy caught a tummy bug and it was a nightmare to constantly ask the hotel for clean bedsheets... Don't make my mistake and pack yours!
6. Whether you're travelling by car or by plane, keep the kids occupied. Sticker books, spot the difference and find an object books are our favorites. 📚
7. SNACKS! And lots of them. We usually pack yoghurt pouches, granola bars, fruit and sandwiches. 🎒
8. Pre-book everything you can in advance. Some hotels may require booking swimming pool slots and restaurants will be busy. But don't overload the day with activities. Sightseeing you'd do on your own won't work for kids. We usually go sightseeing first, have lunch and then let the kids splash in the swimming pool.
9. Explain to your kids that they should always stay with you. ID bracelets are great for writing your contact information on them in case a child gets lost. It's a good idea for the kids to memorise your phone numbers. Why not learn them on the way?
10. If you're travelling abroad and you or your children have allergies, translate what you're allergic to for when you're eating out.
11. HAVE FUN!
