Drying laundry efficiently can save you time, energy and even extend the lifespan of your clothes. Whether you prefer air drying or using a dryer, there are plenty of ways to make the process easier and more effective. Here are our top tips to help you dry your laundry like a pro:

TUMBLE DRYING

• Check suitability for tumble drying. Before using the dryer, always check the care label to ensure the item is suitable for tumble drying. Not sure what to look for? Check out here for the laundry symbols explained. 

• Shake out clothes. Give clothes a good shake before putting them in the dryer to prevent tangling and reduce drying time.

• Sort by fabric type. Dry similar fabrics together. Heavier items like towels will take longer to dry than lighter fabrics like t-shirts.

• Use dryer balls or clean tennis balls. These improve air circulation and cut down on drying time.

• Clean the lint filter. Try to do this before each load to keep the dryer working efficiently and reduce fire risk.

• Choose the right setting. This can help you to avoid shrinkage and damage.

• Add a dry towel. Throw in a dry towel with your load to help absorb moisture and speed up the drying process.

GENERAL TIPS

• Wring out excess water. Before drying, wring out as much water as possible or use a high-speed spin cycle in the washer.

• Use a dehumidifier. In humid conditions, a dehumidifier can help speed up the drying process, especially when air drying indoors.

• Dry flat. For delicate items that might stretch out of shape, lay them flat on a clean, dry surface or a drying rack designed for flat drying.

• Fold promptly. Remove clothes from the dryer or off the line promptly to avoid wrinkles.

• Avoid overloading. Whether air drying or using a dryer, avoid overloading as it restricts airflow and increases drying time. Moreover, it can lead to off-balancing your machine, causing you some serious problem!
